Over 350 aspiring young athletes joined Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing last month at his very first Youth Football Camp on the fields at Pearland High School in Pearland, Texas, outside Houston. The former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and All-Pro, who became a Teammate this year, worked with a team of over 40 local football coaches to instruct and practice with the kids.
Teammates was proud to provide scholarships for camp participants from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston.
At Cushing's camp, Teammates began a new tradition of presenting a Good Teammate Award to one camper at each of the Pro Camps they provide scholarships to over the summer. The award is given to a camper in recognition of his or her traits of a TOTAL TEAMMATE: leadership, toughness, unselfishness, and respect for the game and all of its participants. The very first Good Teammate Award was presented to 8-year-old Gabino Rivera, Jr. from Houston.
