On May 15, Garth and Troy were on hand to celebrate the opening of a new expanded and improved Child Life Zone at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Ft. Worth. The original Child Life Zone at Cook’s was opened by Troy in 1996. The new zone, at 3,800 square feet, is the third largest Child Life Zone in the nation and includes an interactive broadcasting studio, where children can produce programs that are broadcast to other patients in their hospital rooms. Hayden Singleton Head, 8 years old, who receives treatment for neuroblastoma at the medical center and has enjoyed spending time in the zone, interviewed Garth and Troy inside the broadcast studio. A council of hospital patients helped design the new zone, including its furniture and color scheme.
