Julie Ertz of the Chicago Red Stars and US Women’s National Team welcomed 190 kids to her youth soccer camp at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois last week. Ertz and her coaching staff instructed, mentored, and practiced with the young athletes, who were thrilled to learn from the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion and 2017 US Soccer Female Player of the Year. The camp participants all left with more confidence in their on “pitch” abilities. This is Ertz’s inaugural year as a Teammate.
Teammates was proud to provide scholarships through Tickets for Kids Charities, which made it possible for several kids to go to the camp for free. Tickets for Kids Charities is dedicated to the equitable access of cultural resources for low-income and at-risk children.
Continuing its tradition of presenting a Good Teammate Award at each camp where it provides scholarships, Teammates recognized 17-year-old Savannah Short, who received the award for exhibiting the traits of a Total Teammate: leadership, toughness, unselfishness, and respect for the game and all of its participants.
