Michael Franti, frontman for the genre-blending Michael Franti and Spearhead, made a special visit to the Child Life Zone at Denver Health earlier this week. Patients and their families were treated to an intimate, acoustic performance, during which Franti shared stories about his own hospital experiences and how music has helped him through many challenging times in his life. He also spoke tearfully about his son's current hospitalization and recognized all of the parents for their strength and love, as well as thanking the hospital staff for the care they provide.

Following the performance, Franti and his band signed autographs, posed for pictures, colored with patients, held babies, and had personal, sincere conversations with many parents.

Before the visit in the Zone, Franti did yoga with the Denver Health staff and their families, and played a short acoustic set for them.

Child Life Manager Erika Croswhite said, " This was the first time we have had the performing artist for the Denver Health Gala in the Child Life Zone playing music. It was a total success. Michael was awesome!"

“Music is the greatest gift to give and receive and Michael is teaching all of us a gift is something to be shared.” Said Co-Founder of Teammates Garth Brooks “I want to send all my love, gratitude, and respect out to Michael and his road family for making the children, their parents, and the Zone, the happiest place in the hospital.”
