Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera welcomed 360 kids to his 2nd annual youth baseball camp at Lake Orion High School in Detroit this summer. Cabrera and his coaching staff instructed, mentored, and practiced with the young athletes, who were thrilled to learn from the World Series champion and 2-time American League MVP. They all left with more confidence in their batting and fielding abilities. Cabrera has been a Teammate since 2013.
Teammates was proud to provide scholarships through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, which made it possible for several kids to go to the camp for free. Big Brothers Big Sisters' goal is to provide children facing adversity with strong, enduring, and professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Continuing its tradition of presenting a Good Teammate Award at each camp where it provides scholarships, Teammates recognized 8-year-old Andrew Miller of Northville, Michigan. He received the award for exhibiting the traits of a Total Teammate: leadership, toughness, unselfishness, and respect for the game and all of its participants.
