Spring is always a time of renewal. For baseball and soccer players, it’s time to train and focus on the season ahead. For Teammates for Kids, it’s time to recruit new Teammates. In a little over two weeks, Teammates staffers Scott Zebedis and Jason Grahame visited 28 MLB teams in 22 cities, and signed up 193 new Teammates. They also visited with 5 MLS teams in 2 cities, adding 99 soccer Teammates to the ranks.
“I’ve known this foundation for 14 years," said Jeff Davenport of the Kansas City Royals. "Our players are very giving people but don’t always know where to direct their generosity. When they find out Teammates for Kids will direct 100% of their donation to the children AND triple match their money, it’s an easy decision to sign up as a 'Teammate' in this foundation. They know it’s ALL going to the kids.”
"When it comes to helping children and having the opportunity to get my teammates involved in helping children, it is a no brainer," added Kansas City Royal player Luke Hochevar, "especially in the way the Teammates operates by tripling any donation and all proceeds go to those children. My wife Ashley and I take pleasure in spreading the word about the foundation to all our teammates and players' wives."
“I'm always happy to talk to guys about TFK.” says Drew Stubbs of the Cleveland Indians “It's really encouraging to have a charity that puts forth 100% of the proceeds towards the kids and really makes a huge impact on their lives.”
