Everyone needs a little extra romance in February! Parents of patients in the hospital were treated to a night just for them at The Zone in Atlanta. They had a candlelit, catered dinner from Ippolitos, white linen tablecloths and delicious desserts and coffees. Then Canvas by U provided a class where parents got to design their own heart painting.

All of this occurred while The Zone staff and volunteers made sure that their children, our patients, were having fun with activities at the bedside. This is an evening designed for parents to truly experience a 'Night Out' even while they are in the hospital. "The dinner tonight was more then we could have ever imagined and while painting we were able to get lost in our thoughts and just relax. A beautiful night of wonderful hospital memories," said Anna and Paul Evans. Their daughter Hannah is a regular Children's patient with gastrochisis (short bowel syndrome.)

Many parents met for the first time at dinner and talked the night away. It was like a spontaneous support group formed. They shared their hospital experiences and left feeling like they had made new friends. Dana, mom to Chase, a 14 year old with Cystic Fibrosis said; "It was so wonderful to have a mini break with fellow parents after being in the hospital for weeks. Thank you so much, everything was so beautiful"

Each parent left with a painting they were proud of, a full belly, new friends and a regained sense of calm. At least for the night, they felt recharged. Thank you to Ippolitos, Canvas by U and Terri and Carrey, our volunteers for their wonderful donations!
