“Phenomenal!” is how Garth Brooks described Teammates' fundraiser for the new Zone at Phoenix Children's Hospital. “Dominick’s and its staff were exceptional," Garth continued. "The crowd came with giving hearts, and the athletes and staff representing the four major sports teams in the city were simply the best.”
The night started with a moving speech from Wendy Beninato, whose late husband, Mike, had approached Garth about performing a fund-raising concert; his idea led to Teammates opening a new Child Life Zone at the hospital. Unfortunately, Mike passed away suddenly before the fund-raiser was held, making it an emotional night for Wendy and her amazing triplets, Itsy, Luc and Mikey.
After everyone got the chance to say hello to Garth, he treated the 200 guests to an intimate performance that left everyone laughing and crying! Local Arizona Cardinals hero Kurt Warner began the auction with some inspirational words, and in the end, Teammates reached its goal of raising $1 million for the Zone at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
