Teammates Ryan and Dawn Neufeld Generate Support For Playground for Special Needs Children
Former NFL Player Ryan Neufeld and his wife, Dawn, introduced us to an incredible project call Hope Park Frisco, in Frisco, Texas. It is a playground specifically designed to be a safe place for children with special needs, including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and autism. The idea for Hope Park came from Frisco resident Jenni Jensen, a mother of four children, including a daughter, Nora, who has Down syndrome. Instead of being fun, her trips to playgrounds were frightening and frustrating as she attempted to maneuver in a wheelchair and to keep up with her siblings.
Jensen was determined to create a playground that would offer an “inclusive play adventure.” With other moms in the area, she created a nonprofit and raised over $750,000 for the playground, which opened on May 11. Teammates is proud to have made a financial contribution to the project at Teammate Ryan Neufeld’s request.
“I’ve been a Teammate for years now, and it’s really great to see the foundation having an impact in my community,” said Neufeld. “My son, Will, has autism, and it’s great that he and his little sister have a safe and inclusive place to play. We’re very grateful for Hope Park, Garth Brooks, and Teammates for Kids.”
