Teammates' Grant supports Medical Teams International in Haiti.
One of the many ways Teammates fulfills its mission of helping children is through grants made to charitable organizations recommended by our Teammates partners. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and his wife, Sarah, Teammates since 2008; as well as Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson, also a Teammate since 2008; have been supporters of Medical Teams International in Haiti for several years.
A recent grant from Teammates to Medical Teams International benefited a young girl born with hemimelia (an absence of part of the lower leg), which requires prosthesis intervention with or without amputation. At first, the girl’s mother carried her back and forth to school. Now, thanks to the grant which was made possible by the generosity of Teammates partners and people like you, the child has a hand-propelled cart and a custom fit prosthetic leg that allows her to “walk” to school for the first time.
"I believe one of the greatest things we can do is to help someone we may never meet,” says Co-Founder of Teammates for Kids, Garth Brooks “This story is the perfect example of that. Thank you, John, and thank you, Matt and Sarah, for loving unconditionally."
