World Series champion and 2012 Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera held his annual baseball clinic on the fields at Lake Orion High School in Detroit. Over 350 local kids joined the Tigers 3rd baseman to learn the fundamentals of baseball from the 8-time MLB All-Star and other local baseball coaches. Twenty-five youths from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Detroit were guests of our foundation. Cabrera, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series champion, became a Teammate this year.
Last season, the Venezuelan-born Cabrera became the first player since Carl Yastrzemski, in 1967, to win the Triple Crown in batting. He led the American League with a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 runs batted in. Cabrera was voted the 2012 American League MVP following the season.
