Garth Brooks and Teammates for Kids hosted a youth sports camp in Regina, Saskatchewan,
bringing in 92 young athletes for a day of hockey on Saturday, August 10. The camp was held at Cooperators Centre on the Prairie Mobile Arena and the kids represented the Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Regina, City Kidz – Regina, Ehrlo Sports Venture, Foster Families Association – Regina and Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Professional hockey players Travis Moen, Mike Sillinger and JC Lipon lead a coaching staff that worked with the kids on all aspects of hockey plus encouraged them to understand the values that make up a good Teammate: Attitude, Character, Courage, Discipline and Respect.

Teammates For Kids presents the Good Teammate Award at each youth sports camp they sponsor. The award recognizes the young athletes who best demonstrate the traits of a Total Teammate, including leadership, toughness, unselfishness, and respect for the game and all of its participants. In Regina, Good Teammate Awards were presented to: Venice Gagnon, age 9; Morgyn Moule, age 10; and Gabriella Howlett, age 13.

Teammates will continue to partner with Brooks to hold youth Sports Camps at every city on his Stadium Tour. Athletes in each city will volunteer their time to coach kids in football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, lacrosse, track & field and golf.
